    3. Bay or Bow Windows

    Those who want to add a bit more square footage in their bedroom should consider bay or bow windows. Both styles protrude slightly from exterior walls, creating a deep sill area that can be used as a reading nook, storage or a spot for displaying plants and knickknacks. Bay and bow are a mix of fixed and operable windows – the larger central pane (usually a picture window) is fixed, but the other windows flanking it (typically casements), can be opened to let in fresh, cool air.
